Home " Lifeguards "
For assistance in, on and along the water, Reddingsbrigade Noordwijk trains its volunteers to be lifeguards according to the training line of Reddingsbrigade Nederland. Further training is possible through specializations.
The focus of these courses is on the tasks performed by lifeguards of the Reddingsbrigade Noordwijk, including: informing, early intervention, supervision, performing rescues and providing first aid.
In addition to learning practical (emergency) skills, the training courses also focus on aspects such as: preparation, aftercare, cooperation, leadership and communication. Knowledge acquisition and broadening of skills go hand in hand with the development of personal qualities necessary for the work.
The diplomas in this training line show that the holder meets the minimum competency requirements for lifeguards set by the Reddingsbrigade Nederland. The Noordwijk Rescue Brigade also sets additional requirements, geared to local conditions. After gaining a qualification, lifeguards must continue to build on their experience by putting in hours of work. All lifeguards who have obtained a qualification must also continually keep their competencies up to date and demonstrate these again at regular intervals. A licensing scheme has been developed for this purpose.
For an international frame of reference, the courses align with the training requirements established by the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) have been formulated.
